What’s going on, CLT Scene & Beyond?
We’re officially at the halfway point of 2021, and the heat keeps coming, both in the southern weather & in how the underground of the Queen City has reignited along with its people. This week, another “Milestone” gets reached as The World Famous Club opens its doors on Thursday night for the first time in a year & some change.
If you’re looking for an idea of what’s going on out in the scene, check out our Instagram, where we’ll post at the beginning & end of the week about what shows will be going down in the days ahead, both in our feed and in our Story. Speaking of stories….
Spotlight: Nige Hood Get’s “Weird” On WFAE’s Amplifier

Nige Hood has been making noise in the Queen City since the early 2010’s, even before he opened up for Ace Hood and Kendrick Lamar before the shoot to stardom. Sitting on the throne of Folk Rap, his push forward has paired him with future CLT legends like Jah-Monte Ogden (formally King Callis) and Jason Jet, while still existing in a musical space that intersects with the spirit of Oldies Radio, the Blues, and Hip-Hop. Sitting down with Joni Deutsch on WFAE’s Amplifier, Nige talks about his humble beginnings growing up as a Charlotte-Native, his methodology in creating his sound, and where the road might be taking him as an artist, both solo and as part of the Folk Rap Band.
Check out his recent interview on Amplifier, and stay tuned in for the Folk Rap Band’s debut album, arriving in 2021!

Ready Or Not
By Cutright
“Richard ‘Cutright’ Cutright doesnt know how to write a bio. Nor does he know why superheroes wear underwear on the outside of their costume, or what rhymes with orange. But he does know that his life is not his own and has a heart to see the body of Christ united and lives forever changed by the love of the Father.“
