The artists of Tribe 9 want to bring the art back to the people with the new music series.
Common Market South End will be the proving ground for a new event put on by Tribe 9 this weekend on November 23, dubbed The Jamboree.
In the aspiration of creating a new space where fans and creatives can come together in a unified space, Christopher Webster, a vital member of Tribe 9 who goes by the artist moniker CVSH Da General, is looking for everyone in attendance to be a crucial part of each gathering.
Coming from years of consistently performing, CVSH has had his share of critiques when it comes to refining the elements needed for better curated events. These notes taken will culminate in the foundation Jamboree will grow from, with better song flow and direction track to track, a tighter atmosphere, and keeping the crowd fully in mind for the direction of the show.
When asked what had been lost in events he grew up with, CVSH spent little time delivering his answer. “The true connection,” he promptly said.
“Imagine going to an event rubbing shoulders with Kendrick or whatever big artist before they blew up. That memory would mean more than being in the nosebleeds or sitting in a chair watching them,” CVSH elaborated. “Plus, I am a huge believer in energy and being in close proximity with your community will make that transfer easier.”
“I do not want people seeing me and saying, “Oh, I wish I could get close to him.” I want them to know I am there for them in that moment. It’s not fair for them to be so supportive and not feel it back.”
Featured alongside CVSH will be local artists Nani Layilaa, CUEDAGOD, Dario Alejandro, Theron Jr, WithASilentK, Natural Icon and Moonlyfe. Providing engineering and sound for the event will be Proven Prodigy and DJ Hugo. There will also be a live band playing the entire event, dubbed The Band XP, standing for The Band Xperience.
The Jamboree, just as it will be bringing in local musicians to curate the atmosphere, there will also be a presence from homegrown vendors supporting the initial gathering, including FUB$ Official Clothing, Shine by Shi, and Jaqueen Designs.
There will also be activities in between each major act, including music trivia with the host, games like beer pong, as well as an ongoing raffle with prizes to be announced near the end of the evening.
The Jamboree will be taking place on November 23, starting at 6pm and scheduled to go until 11pm. The location will be at Common Market South End at their address 235 West Tremont Avenue Charlotte, NC 28203.
