The RF20XX Weekly Wrap: 2/22/21 to 2/28/21

Happy March, CLT Scene & Beyond! We’ve officially entered into the next threshold of 2021, and as the temp starts to spike upward, so does the onward enthusiasm that as the virus goes on a downward plunge, music might be possible inside venues once again. Meanwhile, the outdoor sets are already in play, so check out Charlotte’s music groups & pages for details, and keep it here for when we start to make those listings again!

Speaking of venues, a few of our city’s booking platforms, Time2Fly, Records on the Wall, & Eagle Management are already on the beat, starting this week with Rec’s B.A.M. Charlotte over at Crown Station and EM’s Indie Fest kicking off at Lenny Boy Brewing! Grab a ticket before they sell out, space is limited and masks are mandatory!

With that being said, let’s pop into what you might have missed in the last week!!!

*NEW* The Beacon No.2: CGN’s Official Magazine

“We’ve got the Couch Brotato himself Chris Morrison on this week’s episode! We promised regular episodes and as soon as we did, Alex got tonsillitis which basically halted podcast recording for a few weeks, but we’re back at it again! After we discuss that a bit, we discuss the new HBO Max content coming, the new Stranger Things promo, another Kong VS Godzilla trailer dropped, and we also talk about the reality TV of the early and mid 00s that seemed to feature a lot of 80s rock stars & wrestlers and if it helped or harmed their image.”

“This week I talked with director, and Columbia, SC music scene legend (heck, punk rock legend in general), Christopher Bickel via Skype about his history as the singer for such well regarded bands as In/Humanity and Guyana Punch Line, as well as his current projects as director of movies full of sex, drugs , and punk rock and roll. We also talk about the Columbia music scene, mostly past but some present, as well as another take on why people just don’t go to see local music these days. Be sure to check out The Theta Girl and Bad Girls, as I can promise you won’t be disappointed!”
