The RF20XX Weekly Wrap: 3/1/21 to 3/7/21

Happy March, CLT Scene & Beyond!

Warmth has come back to the South, gracing the Queen City and, even after the “Blip” year, has started to bring out the people & events. Honestly, as long as we’ve been doing this, this is just how Dec thru Feb end up being here in Charlotte, but all this is to day that maybe you’ve noticed it’s been a while since we’ve heard from the 2020 pop-up surprise bazaar, Maker’s Market CLT!

Starting this weekend & going to the next, MM is once again teaming with our favorite local Irish bar, Tommy’s Pub, in a special celebration *before* & *after* St. Patrick’s Day, hosting 20+ booths of creators from local & regional shops as well as a rotating roster of CLT artists. Do you miss going to venues? Do you need to sink your teeth into something familiar? Come on out this & next Saturday, the 13th & 20th, and come celebrate the return of the Sun with a pint in hand!!

With that being said, here’s what you may have missed this past week in the CLT Scene!

Spitty The Sequel ~ “Friends”, off of the I Come Back Because I Love You EP (2021)

“This week we have Jeff Williams of STOP TALKING (formerly of “The Dead Kings” & ”Biggy Stardust and His Wretched Hive”) stopping in to chat a lot of music and comic book shows! We discuss the formation of The Dead Kings, Alex’s time in The Wretched Hive, and what Jeff is planning for the future of his new band STOP TALKING. Recorded on 2/27; we also theorize about the end of WANDAVISION with only one episode remaining when we recorded this .. though as expected, the last hour is dedicated to the music we love.”

“Kody and Michael hop on to Zoom to chat with one of country music’s hottest up and coming stars. Jarret recently signed a new deal that has provided him with worldwide distribution of his music, has several endorsements and is primed for skyrocketing career. We are very fortunate to have this hard-working, talented young man on the show and we encourage you to check out his music and enjoy the interview!”

“From Bonnaroo to Hard Rock International, our guest has had his art of rock and roll stars all over the world. Originally from Buffalo NY, Tim Petrinec is on the show today to show off some of his work, why the 90’s had a musical incubator, and using his colorblindness not as a crutch, but a way to push his artistry further.”

“This week, I sat down with longtime friend, Dewayne Burns, from so many bands I don’t even know where to start! Of course, as usual, we talked about his history in bands, but we also talked about his love of movies (including a podcast he has called The Punk rock Movie Discussion!), tour tips, The AGP, and we do some reminiscing about how we kind of knew each other in our pre-punk rock days! This one is a little longer than normal, but he had so many bands that I didn’t want to leave anything out (though I still have least 30 minutes of stuff that will end up on patreon in the next few days)!”
