With the oncoming reminders of highly-anticipated AAA games like Grand Theft Auto 6, along with multiple big projects being teased through the Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft and Steam social media channels & algorithms, it can all be overwhelming and hard to see on the other side of.
Gamescom 2026, a video game conference taking place this year in Cologne, Germany, is one of the many big presentations that brings much of that news and hype up with creator interviews, hands-on demos, and trailers galore.
While there was quite a bit from the major studios like Square-Enix (Final Fantasy VII Revelation) and Playground Games (the Fable Reboot) to check out, Gamescom also dedicated a whole section of the convention to independent creators and studios during the week-long affair.
In the nearly 2 hours that the conference used to show viewers at home what’s to come, there is so many neat ideas on display worth being excited about. From playing through a Metroidvania crawler as a sentient cannon, to deck-themed pursuits that bring both warm memories, or help pull the player out of a literal Hell, each title from this year’s spread is a promising marvel and way more than a side-quest to the next big game.
Take a look at the game trailer gallery below to see if there isn’t something that captures your attention and leaves you with future spending to account for. ~
From the clouds, to the sea, and back onto the open road, Neon Hyperdrive, the follow-up to Spiky Crumb‘s Neon Drive, looks to allow players every avenue to enjoy its stylishly flashy world. Quick timing looks to be essential in getting through many of the game’s challenges and environments, but the promised variety in play and hopefully synth-filled soundtrack look to make this game a cool escape from the day-to-day.
